General diagnosis

Stremio not working? Find the actual cause.

A playback problem can start in Stremio, an add-on, a provider, the selected source, the network, or the player. Checking them in order prevents random reinstalls and settings changes.

Try these first

The fixes that usually work

  1. Try a title and lawful source that normally works in your setup. If it plays while one newer title does not, the basic playback path is likely healthy; title availability, metadata, or add-on support is more likely.
  2. Only test a public, unparameterized manifest address. A JSON response confirms that endpoint answered, but does not prove its catalog, stream response, provider authorisation, or every title works.
  3. Fully quit and reopen Stremio, then retry the same authorised source once. If it still fails, keep the exact error instead of repeating reinstalls.
  4. If you use a debrid provider, confirm the subscription is still active by signing in at the provider's own site rather than through Stremio.

No sign-up needed for any of these. If none of them change anything, the free diagnostic checks the rest of the chain and tells you which stage is actually failing.

Common causes

What may be happening

  • An add-on no longer returns valid streams
  • A debrid session has expired
  • A generated stream link is unavailable
  • A local network or player issue

A better process

Check the chain in order

  1. Describe the symptom
  2. Add any error or add-on URL you have
  3. Review the stage-by-stage result
  4. Apply the targeted fix and retest
